Ilton shooting – Police launch manhunt
Just before 8pm last night (5th May) police received a call to an incident at what they will only describe as “a residential address”. The Leveller understands that this is in fact the traveller site at Ilton and there has been a heavy police presence there this morning.
Two men were shot in the incident one of whom received fatal injuries and died at the scene, the other man is being treated for “non life-threatening” wounds. A third man, aged 28 was arrested at the scene. A Fourth man, Charlie Broadway, fled the scene.
Chief Superintendent Jon Reilly said: “A full investigation is under way into this serious incident involving a firearm which we believe is of a domestic nature. We’re using all necessary resources to trace 23-year-old Charlie Broadway in connection with these offences. Due to the gravity of what happened, Charlie Broadway is potentially armed and as a result poses a risk to the public.”
Earlier this morning just after 6am Avon & Somerset Police stated that they were continuing to search for the 23 year old suspect with helicopter support being called in during the night. “We’re continuing to warn the public not to approach Charlie Broadway but to report any sightings to us immediately via 999, quoting log number 1051 of 5 May.”
