Voting confusion

There seems to be a bit of confusion out there about the two elections coming up in the next couple of months.

So here goes, my attempt to clear it up.

If you have registered to vote for the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) elections on 5th May  by now you will have a polling card. This means you are registered to vote. If you are registered to vote you will automatically be registered to vote for the EU In/Out referendum on 23rd June.

If you don’t already have a polling card, you can check with your District Council, but the chances are you are not registered to vote. You have already missed the deadline to register for the PCC elections

BUT

you still have time to register for the EU In/Out referendum.  Registration for EU referendum does not close until 7th June so you still have time to register to vote in that election. Again to register please contact your District Council.
