Election result

Disappointing as it is to report that only 15.5% of Langport’s electorate turned out to vote in the by election cause by the retirement of long serving town councillor Chris Osborne, I suppose we have had a lot of elections in the past 12 months.

Congratulations to Paul Toogood who won with over half of the votes cast.

The good news is that Langport has now a full compliment of town councillors all of whom are in post as a result of being elected rather than co-opted. Perhaps that will induce the council to seek Quality status, something being considered by their near neighbours in Somerton.

The full result was as follows:

Paul Toogood 70

Monica Denny 42

Bernie Graham 23.
