Election called for Langport

Langport Town Council has a vacancy following the retirement of Chris Osbourn. An election has been duly called by ten electors and a date set for Thursday 20th September. Nominations for candidates will close on 20th August.

If there are no nominations then the election will be called off and the council will be obliged to co-opt a new councillor. Technically, if there is one candidate nominated, they will be deemed to be elected, albeit no actual election will take place. But hopefully there will be more than one and the town can have a proper election for a new councillor.

The town clerk advises that election costs will be of the order of £800.
