Westonzoyland – Affordable Housing
For those of you that think that it has become a contradiction in terms, Sedgemoor District Council will be hosting an affordable housing consultation event on Wednesday, 26 August 2015 at Westonzoyland Village Hall. The event opens at 3.00pm and will run until 6.00pm.
It has become a commonplace that there is a housing crisis in Somerset whereby the new housing stock being built is priced out of range of the majority of the population who live and work here. Sedgemoor District Council acknowledge the problem and are trying to work on potential solutions to it starting with this exercise in Westonzoyland.
Local people who are struggling, or feel they will struggle to find an affordable home in the village are encouraged to come along.
Visitors to the event will be able to find out more about affordable housing and its importance in rural communities like Westonzoyland. The Council are keen to gain a better insight into local people’s thoughts about the provision of any future new affordable housing.
If anyone wants more information on the event, or is unable to come along on the day and would like to talk to someone, they should contact event organiser Esther Carter (Housing Project Development Officer) at Sedgemoor District Council (telephone: 01278 435599)
