Essential resurfacing in the Huntworth area

Major resurfacing work is due to take place in the Huntworth area next month. Somerset County Council’s highways teams will be carrying out the improvements to Huntworth Lane between the M5  Junction 24 roundabout and Moorland village. Work is due to start on August 10 and expected to take around four weeks.

This scheme was originally scheduled to tie in with the planned closure of the Huntworth railway bridge for repairs by Network Rail. Although this work has now been postponed, the resurfacing is still necessary as the existing road is showing signs of wear and tear following heavy use during last year’s flooding and also in more recent months for recovery and flood prevention works.

The road will be closed between 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, with the road reopening to traffic outside of these times.

SCC tell us that all residents within the closure have been contacted and access will be maintained wherever possible. A temporary diversion route will be signed while the road closure is in place
