A303 closed after accident – Witness appeal by police
Police are appealing for witnesses following a two-vehicle collision on the A303 Ilminster bypass earlier today. A blue Suzuki Wagon R was in collision with a van between the Southfields roundabout and Hayes End at South Petherton at around 2.20pm.
The police believe that the Suzuki was pulling out of a layby and performing a U-turn at the time. The occupants, a man and a woman in their eighties, have been taken to hospital for treatment after suffering broken bones.
The van driver was unhurt.
The road remains closed in both directions while the scene is examined and the vehicles recovered but officers are working on re-opening the road as soon as possible. If anyone saw this incident or either of these vehicles beforehand, please call the Collision Investigation Unit at Almondsbury via 101 quoting log number 454 of today.
