The University Centre Yeovil is to host its second annual research conference on Wednesday 2 July 2014. The event is free and open to anyone. If yopu would like to go you can register via www.ucy.ac.uk.
The first Conference last summer attracted attendees from a host of UK universities and colleges including Birmingham City University, Plymouth University, University of St Mark and St John and University Centre Yeovil partners Bournemouth University and University of Wales Trinity Saint David.
The thinking behind the conference is to bring to the West Country academics from a variety of disciplines to share their current research, giving attendees a valuable opportunity to bring themselves up-to-date with current thinking and theories.
This year the key note speakers have been confirmed as:
- Yeovil District Hospital’s Debs Matthewson, who will talk on ‘Breaking the Glass Ceiling: Higher Apprenticeships in Health’,
- Keith Savage of the University Centre Stockport, exploring ‘Engaged Scholarship: Working with Students in CBHE to Develop Relevant Practice’
- Karen Barber and Nicola Boland of Swindon College, presenting ‘Higher Education Review – A Perspective form HE in FE’.
Other confirmed papers to be presented at this year’s conference include contributions from academics from across the country, representing University of Wales Trinity Saint David, the University of East London, Derby College, Central College, Nottingham, Leicester College, New College, Durham, North Lindsay College University Centre, Mid Kent College, Cornwall College and Yeovil College.
Dr Paul Bailey, Director of Higher Education at the University Centre Yeovil, is delighted “ to play host to these fascinating guest speakers and offer the wider academic community a chance to update its knowledge. The University Centre Yeovil is proud to be part of this.”
