Assault in Langport
Can you remember where you were around 8.30 in the morning on Wednesday 23rd April (a week ago today)? The police are appealing for the public’s help, particularly passing motorists – following an assault in Langport.
The incident happened at about 8.35am on Wednesday April 23 when a man was walking out of the Tesco store in North Road, Langport. He was followed by a man and a woman, who had a dog with them. The suspect then confronted the victim, who walked away. However the suspect then ran up behind the victim and pushed him to the ground, leaving him lying on the ground.
Passers-by helped the injured man who suffered a broken hip in the incident.
A 36-year-old man from the Langport area has been arrested on suspicion of assault and has been released on police bail, pending further enquiries.
However police are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time who may have seen the incident. We are particularly keen to hear from motorists who may have been passing the area on the way into work.
